Microfilm Scanning. We can scan 16mm & 35mm microfilm in both positive and negative format to TIFF or PDF images.
Our Wicks & Wilson microfilm
scanners provide excellent image quality from even the poorest of microfilm. Their high speed operation means we are able to offer
scanning at very competitive rates.
Aperture Card Scanning. Utilising Wicks & Wilson scanners our bureau can process
large batches of aperture cards in a relatively short time frame. Normally scanned to TIFF format, we expect to get around 2000 scanned images onto a standard
CDR.
Microfiche Scanning. Having produced many tens of thousands of microfiche masters
over the years we have now become more accustomed to scanning microfiche than producing them. We are able to process all formats of microfiche including
combination jackets (mixed 16mm & 35mm frames) and COM fiche.
Microfilm Conversion
Microfilm conversion is a term use to describe microfilm scanning, microfiche scanning or
aperture card scanning whereby the microfilm image is converted to a digital format, normally for integration into an existing document management system.
Microfilm scanning is becoming increasingly popular as old microfilm equipment becomes difficult to maintain.
Microfilming
Microfilming still remains a popular choice for the long term, secure
archival of paper documents. At Marathon we offer a full microfilming service in all the popular formats.
16mm Microfilmingis the standard format for filming documents up to A3 size and can then be supplied in a
media to suit your requirements, ie; microfiche (either jacketed or formatted), or as roll film (either on a spool or in a cassette).
35mm Microfilming is typically used for filming
drawings, maps and plans. Again this can be supplied in a media to suit your requirements, ie; microfiche (jacketed only), spooled or
mounted onto aperture cards.
Formatted Microfiche can be used to film up to approx. 98 documents
directly on to the microfiche. (This process is known as "step and repeat".) As with the 16mm jacket, there is a title
bar for indexing purposes.
